Shooting a Glass House Mountains engagement session was definitely on my bucket list the minute I moved to Queensland. The glass house mountains are some of the most stunning terrain I've ever explored and felt like such a magical place to shoot an engagement session.
Rod & Meg were a couple that I knew I wanted to photograph the minute I met them. They've got such incredible chemistry together and are actually pretty talented creatives themselves.
I thought it might be nice to include a little of the story of their engagement because it's a pretty darn cute story. And I'm a sucker for a great love story.
The Proposal Story (In Meg's Words)
"At the start of 2018 Rod and I set off on a two month trip, a trip that in time would be the catalyst for immense change. It Ignited in us a desire to see more, to explore the realms of who we were and what we could achieve. Fast forward 12 months of saving, cold nights after work building our tiny home on wheels, planning and dreaming, bringing us to February 2019. A month etched in our memory as it started more, a journey of exploration, of becoming us and discovering what it was to truly live!
Prior to leaving early in 2019 Rod designed and set an Argyle diamond ring. We then set off on our van life adventure, cruising the rolling hills of south Australia, across the straight plains of the Nullarbor and onto the crystal blues of Esperance. All the while hiding the ring in the tool box, a place Meg never looks. After searching for 5 months he found the perfect spot, a beach in Broome where the red dirt meets the sand and the oceans glints a turquoise hue.
A picnic with home made pizzas cooked simply on our camp stove, dancing while the sun set and as I spun he got down on one knee. Catching me off guard I thought he was joking, but soon realised he wasn’t. The rest, a happy blur of yeses and hugging.
Truly 2019 was a beautiful turning point and we are both so grateful we chose to live in a little van for almost a year."

Something you may not know... is that 35mm film is making a comeback in my life and work at the moment. I love how it looks, feels.. The whole process of waiting for the film to come back. Here's a few frames of this little forest scene that I shot with film before the rain came down a little harder than my old film camera was probably equipped to deal with.
AFTER A SHORT RAIN DELAY...
We decided a little fire was in order after the rain. With foggy mountains in the background. We couldn't just call it a day when the rain hit. And besides. I absolutely love working with firelight.
